Default Duplicate content is a myth.

I long doubted the claims that Google doesn't really distinguish between dupe content and unique content, but when I searched for the keyword

"My Husband Hates Me"

Number 3 and Number 10 are the same article, written by the same person, only one article is from EZA and the other ArticlesBase.

I think this might indeed seal the matter on dupe content!

This is not a duplicate issue.
Duplicate issue means, If you update a site content with other sites one, your site will be ignored. However, these two are article directories. That is not considered as DUPLICATE issue.

If there are no duplicate content filters, the search engines would not be worth using.

The fact that the filters are not perfect and occassionally lets something through doesn't mean there isn't any.

Whenever it come to the duplicate content debate I always wonder. Say you did use the search term "My Husband Hates Me" and on the 1 st page using google the same article is shown on 20 times but in 20 different article directories.

That would be wonderful. I don't think so as to the surfer looking for a product it will be treated as duplicate content.

Everybody always shouts not DUPLICATE content. Well maybe in the eyes of Mr googlebot but in the eyes of the product hunter (our clients) it is a pain and duplicate content.

I think out of the box so article spinning done the proper way is the way to go.

I think more often than not, duplicate sites are not indexed by Google. That's why I am against autoblogging.

Is there an All In One Topic on the Dupe Content issue? I'd love to hear the debate. But to avoid the issue, just rewrite whatever and get it 30% unique. That's what I'd do.

There really isn't much debate, just people that come out and say it's a lie.

Why read a debate when you can see for yourself? Just build one website of 10 pages. To be even more duplicated, put up 100% PLR articles. Then make 10 identity websites using these same PLR articles. Good luck getting them indexed.

This might help answer some questions about dup content if you haven't seen it yet (Greg Grothaus of Google)..

You feel so lucky
But your ego obscures reality
And you never bother to wonder why
Things are going so well
You wanna know why?

This is one of most hotly debated yet undecided issues as far as I am concerned. Those who hold postions on both sides are often dogmatic. I think the verdict is still out.

If you want to research duplicate content ideas easily, just look at press releases.

There's no penalty, but Google might group like results for the user. That video above also explains this stuff.

Many people confuse filtering with the idea of a non-index penalty. Duplicate content still gets traffic and can still make money.

Here is how dup content works:
"he who has the most links and/or link authority wins"
I can build a site with 100% dup content and if I get more/better links than everyone else, the algorithm will see me as the authority for that content.
That is one reason why I don't give a rat's ass when I get my stuff scraped.

No reason to challenge as the dupe content question has been answered here time and time again. People want to worry about it - let them. I don't.

In regards to off site dup-content. Promote the hell out of it, youll see -- itll get indexed and youll make money. Just dont have dupe content, dupe titles and dupe meta descriptions on the same site. Actually, from what I've seen on site, you can even get away with just the titles and meta tags being different.

From what I have read duplicate contents doesn't matter, google looks for fresh content which duplicate content can be used for. I read a report recently from someone can't remember the name but it is someone well known and he saw no difference in using other peoples content compared to writing new content.

Well knowing how to differentiate the “filter” from the “penalty” , you will understand how a search engine verifies what duplicate content is.

I couldn't agree more with what you had said, more backlinks means more reputation in google's eyes with these they will see that you are the authorized owner of the content.
