Dramatic Change In Google Search In Quotes -- Very Weird!

For some strange reason, when I do a Google search on a keyword phrase in quotes (to check out competition), I am getting 10 times more numbers than I did a month back. Eg a phrase that was only 15,200 before is now 125,000!

Anyone else notice this happening to your keyword searches in quotes?

yeah, same thing here ... i was about to build links around a great keyword that used to have 9000 results between quotes and around 13k searchs a a month it took me a while to prepaire tha content and set some blogs up and just before starting my campaigne i checked again and it was 67 000 .... i'm very worried really .

This has been happening to me with Google for over a month. If I type in something like "ABC auto" with quotes I get 4x as many results as "ABC auto" without quotes, which is obviously impossible.

Therefore, I have been focusing on "allintitle" searches in Google and disregarded the general searches.

Well, just for grins I searched for a two word keyphrase that I rank for.

Without quotes I get 258,000,000. With quotes I get 108,000.

I rank #3 on both those searches, but I can tell you that the 258,000,000 number appears to be the largest I've ever seen for that keyphrase.

So what on earth is going on? Of course, there'll be additional competition as time goes by but not TEN TIMES more surely??

Google acting goofy? Never heard of such a thing

They have been all over the board of recent.
I even get some large variances when checking for indexed competitor site pages at times.
