Hey Warriors, I would like to get your input on this question. In your experience, what web 2.0 property does google give the most "love" to? I am not really interested in book marking sites, but rather wordpress, blogger, squidoo...type sites. I am poor so I want to start my "niche empire" with these types of free sites first before I host my own sites. Your advice/experience/opinions would be greatly appreciated. Cool? Thank You Jared |

Jared: I have been using a WordPress blog hosted by 1and1 with the All in One SEO widget and get good organic search results. Twitter also shows up in Google too. Hope that helps, Ralph |

Hubpages definitely, for certain reasons they get indexed in just a few hours and rank quite high. Followed by Squidoo, Wordpress and Blogger. |

Oooo my speciality. They don't have a favourite but they do have a considerably complex way of choosing which Web 2.0 property they will rank. |

hubpages over squidoo since squidoo got really strict on their lenses (which isn't always a bad thing). Youtube is also good if you actually give good content and not just a picture of an affiliate offer w/ lame music in the background...

What you're talking about is referred to as "parasite hosting" - basically where you use the authority of a domain to rank well for certain keywords. Any of the above mentioned sites are good for it. I'd probably go with wordpress.com myself. But if you want your own domain to rank for a keyword, you can't beat a Digg front page! |

I always thought Squidoo was better than HubPages! Glad I read this thread! But, I seemed to have noticed that when there are Web 2.0 sites on the front page of Google, it is often times a Squidoo Lens. I never see a HubPages Hub on the front page. Can anyone explain this? |

Check out the major black hat verticals and see which web 2.0 pages rank. That's a tactic I've been using for years. If they rank in the pharma/financial/casino sector, they'll rank in "blue widgets" verticals all day long.

web2.0 property that allows moderated posts [instead of non moderated like hubs, squids]will always have good authority - but if the posts are not moderated then they are going to lose rankings sooner or later. This is why hubpages have lost the authority and this was the same with squidoo some months ago.

Hubpages and Squidoo alow you to use tags to gain internal links from high pr domain. Because of this the rank well. Any other site that hosts your page on same domain as main domain (not a sub domain) and has a similar tag structure will also give you good results.

If you are looking for opinions, my picks: Blogger Youtube Google owns them both and my gut feeling is if all things are equal, what google owns will win out in a tie. Paul |

I think it's just that hubpages simply isn't as popular as squidoo right now. I would guess that will change though with more people catching on. Quote:
