Default PPC Marketers: Finding Keywords

Hey PPC marketers,

I managed to convince my dad to try Internet marketing and it seems like he is particularly interested in PPC.

Unfortunately, I'm not a big PPC marketer myself (and I only deal with Yahoo) and my dad seems to want to try AdWords because of the big money in AdWords and he is also interested in challenging himself for the Google Slap (I know it's weird).

So, just wondering how do you guys find the keywords to bid on for your AdWords campaign?

I understand that it's different from Yahoo because of the higher CPC and more advertisers competing for one keyword.

Right now, I just got my dad these few tools:

- Traffic Travis Pro
- A Dell Laptop for him to play with

Thanks guys. Rock on.

use the free Google Keywords tool, then get setup with Prosper202 for keyword tracking (also free).

If you wanna avoid the slap, use a wordpress site with some Contact/About Us/Privacy pages on it and that will help out, among other things.

Most keywords on Google Keyword Tool is just too broad-base. Sure, it's cool with Yahoo but I think the CPC on AdWords is a little too high.

you can change to exact by clicking the drop down on the right where it says "broad"
