Default SEO Firefox plugin causes inaccuracy?

The inaccuracy is pretty small but still I just noticed this today.

If you search using a keyword phrase in quotes on Google the number of web site pages that comes up is slightly different when searching with the SEO enabled than when it is disabled.

Notice I said enabled and disabled entirely not just turned off.

I did one search today that turned up 17,000 web site pages with it enabled and on. With it completely disabled it turned up 16,800. Not a huge deal but rather odd.

I noticed this because I am mainly using another browser for most of my browsing and only go back to Firefox for the SEO plugin use and noticed a difference in the numbers and wondered what was going on.

Anybody have any comments on this?

I just noticed another discrepancy. This time it's in the number of incoming links.

SEO Firefox plugin (SEOF) shows 41,000 for a keyword phrase I am looking at whereas Yahoo itself shows only 8 incoming links.

What gives??

41,000 is probably the link domain.

I don't believe that is the case Michael.

When I follow the "Y! Links" link inside the SEO Firefox plugin I am actually taken to yahoo where it inserts "linkdomain:mtgprofessor.com -site:mtgprofessor.com" into Yahoo.

Which results in many pages of links showing up. All offsite.

Hmm...I just noticed what the "problem" is. SEO Firefox plugin returns the number of incoming links to the top level domain of mtgprofessor.com in this case.

My manual search in Yahoo was to the specific page within that domain that I wanted to know the incoming links to which were only 8.

No discrepancy after all. Sorry about that.
