Default PageRank & Longevity

I have a blog that I update daily. Two and a half years old. Until recently, it was a PR3. It was at PR3 for at least a year and a half, maybe longer.

I have a website that is a PR3. I think it may have been a PR4 (maybe even a PR5) at one time. But, it's PR3 right now, and been there for a while. The PR3 website has not been updated in five years.

As I've mentioned and seen mentioned before, PageRank has no correlation with traffic.

I just see it this way... On one site, I spend a lot of time with daily updates and end up with a PR3. Another site (which was never updated on a daily basis) just sits there for five years and has a PR3.

Or could it be that the older site with a long-lasting PR3 rank is actually viewed as a better site than a frequently updated site that has the same ranking but for less time?

Or, is PageRank just completely useless? Is it no different from an Alexa ranking?

Google mind games. I just sold a site that I literally had done nothing more than build a handful of links to (none of them from high PR pages), and it had a PR of 4. Every other site of a similar nature with identical backlinks were PR0 or PR1. I mean they all had EXACTLY the same backlinks from exactly the same websites. Figure that one out. It's a feint by Google to keep us all guessing and adding content and doing other things to dance to the Google Puppetmaster's tune.

Hi Pagerank has nothing to do for listing organic in the search engines. Page Rank is the biggest SEO Myth.

I will rather focus on value content and link building to relevant site of your nich.

I will explain to you Page rank is a measure of the links to your site.

It is possible for a site with a PR3 to out rank a site with a PR4. That is why page rank has nothing to do with you SERP.

Hope this shed some light all the best.

Agreed. If you just look at the SERPs, some PR4 is listed below PR3 and below. Likewise you will find instances of PR2 sites listed higher than PR4 or PR5.

Tip for today use Linkbait. what is linkbait?

Write value content or get a writer to write for you. The more value the content is the more will people link to your site and the higher you will get into the organic listing.

If you see on the internet the most authority sites are .edu and .gov because they have high value content and people link to them.

Hope this help all your marketers. Cause Linkbait is very powerfull.

Be Bless

Myth or not, it still shows how many other websites link to you, which helps in search engine rankings.

Hi there,

Its good that you understand that Page Rank does not determine how much traffic you get.

Page Rank is a tool used by Google to rank the web pages for their ranking, on relevancy, how many back links, etc...

I have written a post on Importance Of Page Rank, it will explain more to you more on Page Rank.
