Default Do You Create Videos Out of Your Articles for Backlinks?

In an effort to repurpose my articles, I'm thinking of creating videos out of them. I've never used video before, so I'm not certain on how videos get you backlinks.

So, if I create a video and submit it to various video sharing sites using some sort of tool like tubemogul, how do I get backlinks to my sites? Is there just some text that is submitted next to the video that you can say "visit my site at xyz.com" like there is with youtube? Is this where you get backlinks from?

Also would you ever use video to provide backlinks to your articles?

I'm basically a video newb, so I'm just trying to fit the pieces of the puzzle together.

Thanks,

-Tom

There are many ways to use videos.

I have had most success with youtube so I only use tubemogul occasionally if I think the particular topic has wide interest (And I have time - I find their interface very clunky).

In youtubes description you can enter your url. It becomes a link.

Look up Sarah Staar (Starr?). she has a great product which really answers your questions - it was free to war room members - might still be

I turn some of my articles into videos using a piece of software from Big Mike here at WF. It's called GFX Video Writer. Just do a search for that. Very easy to use and inexpensive.

Just be sure to title your video using your keyword and then write out a couple hundred word description that also includes the keyword and related words. Be sure to mention your URL early on so it shows at YouTube before the 'More Info' link. You want people to see and click that link without having to do anything else.

Re creating videos from articles, I haven't to date. It's on my (long) To Do list however, mainly because I like playing with Camtasia for the Mac. :-)

An aside: If you're a Mac person and are wondering what the program's like, it's excellent, but your videos still need shuffling into iMovie to add intros and jingles.

I've never paid enough attention to videos, thanks for bringing the topic up. I haven't investigated any of the software which posts videos to multiple sites, and I'll add that to my To Dos too...

I too would like to know. The way I see it, if you post articles on EZA and web 2.0 sites, you want some direct human traffic of course, but it can be most useful for SEO purposes when linking back to our "main hub" or "money site"

As for videos, unless they are very entertaining, we won't get much views or human visitors to our sites from them, but they could very well still be useful for SEO.

I wonder if there is a number of views required before Google and other SE pass on link juice.

I'm not sure about other video sites, but the links on youtube are nofollow, so you will not get any SEO benefit from them. As Matt Cutts said, "The essential thing you need to know is that nofollow links don’t help sites rank higher in Google’s search results." - PageRank sculpting

However, videos can be great for traffic. Rather than thinking of youtube as a backlink, you can build links to your youtube video instead. It can rank in the SERPs itself and get you a lot of traffic. How that converts depends on the quality of your video.

For video submission, my favorite and FREE tool for submitting videos to multiple sites is pixelpipe. It's quite easy and intuitive to use

I'm also concern about putting backlinks on to my youtube description.

Like you said if you try to use tubemogul...

Anyway, the downside of youtube description is you can't actually put an html anchor text link.

But I see someone is doing it right now. I don't know how they did it even thou I try to search on youtube for tutorials.

Is there any expert here? On how to put an html anchor text link below the description of youtube? That can make your word or text clickable?

Could you post the URL to the video? I didn't think it was possible, but that would be awesome if you can.

I think turning your stuff into videos will be beneficial on a multitude of levels.
I have taken a look at the pipes that someone above mentioned, and it is a neat way to blast out your videos all at one shot. I know Alex Kruliks Magic Submitter does the same thing last I saw.

Do it though, it will be fun and there could more traffic to your site, and building your credibility is only a win win in my book. In my eyes, a link is a link treat them like Pokemon...gotta get em all!
