post or page for seo purposes?

I was wondering if the search engines prefer one over the other. I'm referring to a wordpress post or page of course.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Should be no difference. Only difference is the fact that a page won't show up in your RSS feed, for whatever that's worth to you. There is a plugin that puts pages into your RSS feed. Don't know the name, but I'm sure you could find it pretty easily with a google search.

I'll generally always make my index page a "page" though, rather than displaying my most recent post(s).
