Question on using product reviews on Amazon as a way to drive traffic to my site

Hi everyone,

Still getting used to my surroundings in this place, and liking what I see so far. First post here - I'm a little bit of a newbie - and I hope it hasn't been discussed to death before.

I'm running a site where I write about men in movies as a way to inspire guys who want to go further with their lives to take the next step. On my site, I provide Amazon purchase links (but I haven't made any sales on them).

Every movie I feature, I go in some depth with. I now wonder if I can feature this "review" as a product review on Amazon and link to my site. Is it possible, is it kosher, will Google penalize me? Questions, questions.

As far as I remember, links do not show up, just the text.
A person would need to copy-and-paste the url. I suppose
it could happen.

You can post links in the amazon forums, I do believe.
I used to do that. Give a tip, answer a question.
They are very lax there, too, as I recall.

I would say what most people would say here. There are
way too many other, good, solid ways of getting traffic.
Just read this whole ppc/adsense part of the forum.
The wealth of info is astonishing.

Thank you, Paul. I will go with your gut and look to post my reviews as articles instead. Do you think this is a viable approach? I have come to understand from the large majority of voices that I WON'T be penalized for duplicate articles.

And yes, I have noticed - the scope of this place is a bit daunting what with my schedule already being so full.

But I'm here to learn so time to dig in.
