For quick SEO results, the blog on Wordpress. For building a long term asset that you own - use your own domain name and get links from authority sites like Wordpress.

Hi there, The blog on your own site is by far the best choice. Using the sitemap plugin and a bit of social bookmarking and the Google spiders will be there in a jiffy and your site in the rankings the next. You can get your own site ranking and getting good traffic in a few days. If you ensure it has original content on as well then even better. A good tip is to drip feed original content for the first 2-3 weeks every day as that keeps the google spiders coming back for more. I'd always build something on my own domain because I am building an asset. Plus you have more control over plugins and so on. Self Hosted Wordpress is the way to go for me! Cheers Jason |

I absolutely agree with Ron. If your domain is new it needs to establish its credibility before it features well (and quickly for new articles) in the search results. Going with WP on your own domain is a good move - but it does take some time. Once you're there, though, you'll do very well. Cheers, Martin. |

WordPress is great for SEO, regardless of weather you are using their site or hosting it on your own. That being said, I would never use a WordPress.com blog as the center of a campaign. Yes, it will rank faster in the engines, but at what cost? How would you like to spend the next 3 months optimizing a blog on WordPress.com and have it deleted by WordPress as soon as you are starting to see results? Major bummer, don't let it happen! |

Thanks a lot.Actually I just want to rank for 4 long tail keywords only.I don't have any plan to develop it as an authority site. This is the reason why I am confused. ~Nikhil |
