Difference between Alexa Rank and Google Rank

Hi, I really don't know a lot about the comparison between alexa and google rankings.
I would like to ask for your opinion, i have a blog that i have not updated for about 8 or so months, it is just a simple blogger blog. now when i checked on it, the alexa rank is #7 but the google pagerank is 0.

Is it important to have good ranks for both alexa and google? is it enough to have a good alexa rank? although my blog has this rank, but i don't see my affiliate being clicked onto, maybe something is wrong with what i am doing? and in truth, i'm not even earning much from it.

any suggestions? or advice? please help.

Alexa is the measure of your domain's popularity in terms of traffic - PageRank is a measure of your specific pages importance with respect to references from external sources.

In your case, a ranking of 7 indicates that only 6 other sites on the whole Internet get more traffic than yours. However, this would suggest that your blog is hosted with Blogger.com or Wordpress.com or something similar, so that traffic isn't all yours.

Your Google PageRank of 0 suggests that Google thinks your page is unimportant.

I would strongly recommend that you grab a copy of Dan Thies' excellent free eBook "SEO Fast Start" at Free SEO Book: Read SEO Fast Start by Dan Thies . This will help you understand all this much better than I can ever explain it!

wow! now that makes sense to me, i don't know a whole lot about this, thank you for explaining to me John.
