Number of Google indexed pages decreasing

hi to all,

i have a question. what could be the problem with one of my sites? the number of indexed pages in Google have been decreasing.. what could be the reasons for this issue?

Hi 2d0k,

If you have pages that appear to have nearly identical content to other pages you may see them get moved to the supplemental index. If you are not creating unique page titles and descriptions then those pages may get removed from the primary index.

There are also a number of technical reasons that pages may be removed from the index and those will usually be listed in Google's Webmaster Tools once you have registered and verified your website. Do you have an Webmaster Tools account?

yes, i have a google webmaster account.. i am just trying to ask for the possible reasons of this problem because google might continue de-indexing my other pages..

so far, it's too early to see because i have just realized the decrease in indexed page yesterday.. it's better to know the possible reasons so that i can do something about it.. i don't have duplicate contents in my site because i write the contents myself for every page..

If your content is unique then you may need to get som more links into the individual pages. Write some articles and get some inbound links to those pages. Start with that first and then look at the other technical issues. Also, how long are your pages in terms of words? I normally have 250+ words!

They have more or less about the 250 words also.. it that relevant in indexing?

as for the other pages, some don't have inbound links yet because i'm focusing all my inbound link building to my index page.. is this alright?
