Probably not as big a result as you hoped, but what I did was remove a banner ad from my site and inserted a link ad into my navigation, which increased my CTR from < 0.2% to almost 6%!! Just proof to constantly test different methods! |

Hmmm, when you say link ad, how close is it to the navigation? Can users get confused, if so I would read the TOS to cover your a$$. Just my £0.05

Wow, congrats! Anyways, regarding the previous comment: Google's premium publisher ASKTHEBUILDER uses link units in his navigation, so I'm pretty sure that it's OK. |

| Not necessarily. They make deals with the big boys. Notice how some sites have ads that are different sizes or with bigger text.

Well, my navigation is on the right side of the header area, and the ad links I put on the left side. Plus the sites actual nav are "button like". The ads are just straight links.

There's nothing wrong with that, especially if you don't give any direct sign for users to click the ads there. |
