Default My inner pages outrank my index page for my main keyword phrase

My inner pages outrank my index page for my main "keyword phrase"

The title for the index page is same as the targeted phrase, also the keywords are present in domain name.

Earlier the index page was ranking for that "keyword phrase" for 2 days on 11th position

But now my index page is deep down burried in serps.

Is my site is being penzalized?

Why does Google consider an inner page of my site more important than the index page? .
My index page have a lot more inbound links than my inner pages.

Any ideas?

Thanks

It's not unusual for inner pages to rank more highly than the index page, it's just the way the search engines work.

Don't woory about it.
If you have a link to your home page from the high ranking page, then the ranking "juice" will soon start flowing to the home page and lifts its rankings as well

Take care

Just keep repeating what you're doing, I wouldn't worry, like Bruce said the juice will be passed soon enough.

Hi dizen,

That's usually not a bad thing. A very effective strategy is building all of your backlinks to inner pages.

A typical home page is not as focused as inner pages since it often must serve as a multipurpose page. Well focused inner pages can draw highly targeted traffic for the particular keyword you are targeting. This allows you to have many pages targeting many different keywords.

This means you built more "main keyword" backlinks to the inner
pages, than your home page. Just build more backlinks with the
main keyword in the anchor text to the home page and this
should solve the problem, over time.
