I'm experimenting with 2 things related to backlinking and indexing with forum signatures
The first requirement is to find a few high traffic forums that get indexed hourly. Luckily, I belong to several such forums and have built up enough post cred to have reasonable signature flexibility. There are two techniques I want to discuss here: (1) Using temporary signature edits for getting a new site indexed and (2) using temporary signature edits for backlinking Of the two, I believe the first is most useful, particularly now that digg and mixx are "no follow". I will continue the discussion in a future post, but one of the things I'm experimenting with is taking the opportunity when I have a new post or a reply to a hot topic, is to immediately edit my sig file just after posting in order to allow google to capture the links in my sig. Once the post has been indexed, usually within an hour, sometimes as quickly as 5-10 minutes, I will remove the links from the sig file and resave. The only purpose of the sig edit is to allow your newly launched sites to get indexed. I've successfully gotten my sig links indexed, now I'm just waiting for the sites to show up with site:domainname in google. One important thing to note here, and as first proposed by Andy Black, is that your site links should be as inconspicous as possible. Andy suggests using numbers 1, 2, 3, etc and you would hyperlink each site to a number. I've used periods and > characters. For example, you sig might look like this... My equipment: Denon Receiver > Directv Sat Box > Harmony Remote And you could hyperlink each of the ">" characters to one of your new sites that you are seeking to index. This makes the links fairly inconspicous but G still sees them and it should lead to a site crawl. I'm still waiting on that, but in theory it should work. |
