so checking one of my sites and in my webmaster tools it says there 1950 pages index on my site map but when I do a search for site:mysite.com it only says theres like 200 pages index anyone have any idea why thats happening?

This is common for most sites. Google has a supplemental index besides their regular index. Webmaster tools show both combined. The supplemental index is pages Google is not sure what to do with or your pages have some duplicate content or other issues. Google may actually crawl all your pages, but that doesn't mean they report them all. And just being crawled doesn't mean they will be indexed. It's common on new sites for them to not crawl very deep. Then come back and crawl deeper later. |
