Default Backlinks in signature

Hello

Do you know if backlink in the signature(on any forum) is counted as one backlink or based on number of posts? In other words - if I have 100 posts on this forum will it count as "100 backlinks" or "1 backlink"?

Also - I have "NoDoFollow" add on in FireFox. When I use it it shows me the links that are valuable for my backlink strategy or not? When I turn it on I see "pink" and "purple" links - which one are those that we look for?

This is interesting...I would guess every post with a link in your sig counts as 1 backlink, regardless of whether it is on the same page, thread etc. but what also comes to mind is say you where to change your sig links, do you loose all the previous links gained, as all your posts show your recent status, which would include your current sig links ? Any expert knowledge from anyone on this???

As far as I know, you're only going to get credit once for each backlink per page. If you have posted twice in this post, you're only going to be given credit once for each of the links in your signature. You also cannot link twice on a page using different anchor text... you'll only be given credit for one.

Now, if you post in ever thread on this forum you'll get credit for all of those backlinks as well... however, the tricky part and where it gets a little grey is how much overall juice are you going to receive for all of those links coming from the same site?

If you posted on 100 posts here would you receive the same amount of linkjuice you would receive if you posted once on 100 different forums?

If it were that easy then all I would have to do is post here 1000 times and I would be #1 for everything, but we all know that is not the case. Which is where the IP diversity argument comes in.

yes, you are going to lose that backlink. it might not show up right away but eventually it'll be lost. What I've noticed with a lot of the backlink checking tools is at first the backlink will still show up, but without anchor text, then over time the backlink will eventually disappear as well. however, it can be months after you've lost the link before it finally disappears completely.

A classic example of this is putting a link on a blog that has a 'recent comments' widget on the sidebar. You'll leave a comment and the next thing you know you've got 100 backlinks all coming from a site you've only left 1 comment on.

What is happening is the recent comments widget is on the sidebar of every page of that site so your potentially receiving a backlink from all of those pages. But, when your comment slips out of the top 10 recent comments, and the page is re-crawled, you'll start losing all of those backlinks.

hint hint... you can use these blogs to your advantage if you continue leaving comments with the same backlink/anchor text. Who doesn't like free bonus links?

Synthesize me, And reboot, I need to start again, I need to make it different

You can view the source code of that page. See which link was a nofollow tag and what color that link has. You will then know which color represents a nofollow tag.

Links from signatures are counted as backlinks: the more pages of the forum is indexed, and the more posts one have, the more will these backlinks be. But these are not quality backlinks: they do not help much in improving ranking in SERPs. We can get some targeted traffic from signature links plus they may help a site to crawl faster.

If your sig link isnt nofollow then you will recieve PR from every page that contains your link. You never really see forum threds get over pr 1 or 2 so you wont get a lot of link juice. Best thing about the sig links is that you have full control over the anchor text.

If your link appears more than once on a page then the first link found in the source code will get link priority. This is the link that has the anchor text power.

So many times I have seen article author bios in article directories contain 2 links back to the authors website. The problem is they dont realise about link anchor text priority and use useless anchor text on the first priority link saying something like [click here] and then use their proper anchor text on their second link. e.g. [Click Here] to get "dog training". The words [click here] becomes the priority anchor text and the "dog training" anchor text gets disregarded.

Will be the next authority article directory. Come take a look around. Submit and Publish your own articles.

You will need to check on whether the forum allows dofollow links.

I'm confused. In the source code, all the links I see are blue and underlined. I'm using Google Chrome.

AFAIK, it doesn't have any relation with posts. I'll agree to Lailascott for this one. However, using one forum to drop your sig is not helpful too. You have to find as many as possible forums that allow signature that link to your site.

I also have nodofollow add on in FireFox. The purple links are DOFOLLOW one and the pink links are NOFOLLOW. Definitely we are looking for the PURPLE one.

Hope this help

If you have 100 posts on 100 differnt threads - Those will be counted as 100 different backlinks (But from one domain)

3) Many times forum profile does not get indexed if no post has been done by profile.
4) If any page, where you are posting, has any PR then you would be getting the backlink from that page. If all 100 pages having different PR you would be getting 100 backlink from different PR page.

Hope this would remove the confusion.
Quick question: If I had three links to the same site. anchored as "keyword1" "keyword2" and "keyword3"

would those count as three links with three keywords. or three links with keyword1 as the anchor?

or should i be posting 1 link with "keyword 1, keyword2, keyword3" as the anchor?

Thanks a lot

It will be counted as 100. But backlinks are more valuable if you can get them from different sources.

Default I think they're all from the same IP address

Hi,

I've read some people say that since they're all from the same IP address, Google counts them as one link.

To test this out, I'm using them in my sig. I'm going to check with backlinkwatch in a few weeks to see if I see them in a Google
backlink check.

I've also heard that other search engines like maybe a Yahoo or MSN do count links from the same IP.

Well links are worth something if there are less then 100 links on a page. Once you have over 100 links on a page then they are almost useless. But a good way to get indexed thats all.

Thanks,
