My site which is totally white hat and all unique content has been de-indexed from google. The site is a year old and has over 200 backlinks according to yahoo site explorer. I havent added to the site in like 8 months. Is this the problem? How do I get re-indexed. I already have a sitemap and all that plus rss feed you know all the basics. Should I just publish some new content and then I will be indexed again? |

It could be a whole heap of things. Really hard to tell for sure.. But yes, first post some new, original content. Check what kind of sites are being hosted on the server you use, Google keeps a blacklist of naughty IPs and if you share the same IP you've gotta move servers. Your backlinks could be coming from link farms or other link exchanges that Google views as nasty. Backlinking can take months to have any effect, so it could be something you did ages ago that's just catching up. Hope you work it out. |

I reckon the site has been dropped becuase BigG thinks the site has been abandoned. To get it back to life start posting to the site again on a regular basis. If its a static site, stick a Wordpress blog on a subdirectory on the site you want to get moving again, and start blogging away. I would suggest, makeing 1-2 posts every day for the first 3-5 days, then 1-2 posts every 2-4 day for the next 2-3 week, then once a fortnight should do it. Make sure you include links in your blog posts about your site you want to get "revitalised". I don't mean every posts contains a link to the home page, but each blog post should contain a link to a subpage of your website. This will get your site moving along just fine. Then, a new round of fresh backlinks and all should be good again.. I hope this helps Bruce |

First of all, it has absolutely nothing to do with your update frequency. I have several sites that have not been updated since 2006-2007 that rank quite well. I've seen other people's sites that date back to the 90's that are much like they were back then and still show up in Google. It is also highly unlikely to be because of your web host unless you're hosting on a known pirate/spam/etc. type host. If you're hosting on a mainstream shared hosting service like HostGator, Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc Google won't penalize you for what others on the host are doing. In general, deindexing is usually caused by (a) a site being down or inaccessible to Googlebot for an extended period of time, (b) using a script that Google thinks of as a thin affiliate or link spamming site such as BANS or YACG, (c) using other techniques that are against Google webmaster guidelines. |

Ok well the website is built in wordpress, but not really set up like a blog. Has all in one seo and all the on page seo stuff. Nothing black hat about this site, no bans, no YACG, it promotes a clickbank product and has netted me around $2000 in 1 year. It still makes money from the article backlinks, but not much. I think I need to do what was suggested. Add some new content and then do a fresh round od backlinks. Thanks for all the tips guys. |
