Government competition to keyword

my keyword seems to have a lot of government sites as its competition.

is there a specific strategy i should take to get my site above them? as they seem to be poorly optimized and limited back links.

I have a quite a few sites in my niche that outranki both local and federal govt websites.

Sure they have the advantage of a .gov domain, but usually the government websites are very poorly optimized and have very few back links.

So go for it..

You can still do it..

I'm not seeing alot of competition to my content or to SEO if i take the advice from the forum.

I have 1 or 2 big challangers but i think they are beatable in time, I would be happy with top 5 in area.
