Good Day, I have been thinking about this for a while but am a bit unsure, Should I be using YouTube videos to try and gain a few back links to my blogs? I could upload 20 videos and that would be 20 back links, If I can get the video file size down to a low size, it might not take me that long to get a few 100 back links, would this method have any negative effects on the blogs I am linking to. Those Links you are referring to are No-follow ones and they will not have any impact or help in your SEO.And,the search engines won't index such links. So,Don't waste your time gathering Youtube Nofollow links. It won't have any effect in the blogs. While youtube videos can be good at giving you some traffic, its a perfect waste of time for Link Building. |

You don't use YouTube for backlinking purposes as they are NoFollow. However, you CAN use YT videos to get traffic and exposure to your website. - Put your URL in the Video info section as close to the front as possible. That way people who watch your video can easily click on your link if they want more info - Watermark your videos with your website...again, this is for exposure, you won't get a backlink Treat YouTube as a traffic source, not a backlink source. Don't forget that it's the #2 search engine behind Google for the amount of monthly searches |

Jeff is absolutely right.. Youtube is great for getting traffic but not for getting link love. Watermarking is the best way and a call to action at the end of the video is also a good tactic.

You can install a free 'NoDoFollow' plugin for Firefox which will show you which sites (like Youtube) have 'nofollow' links. Tip: Wordpress blogs, by default, have nofollow links for the Comments area. Google does give you SEO credit for nofollow links but Yahoo and Bing do (I have been told). |
