What are the possible reasons why links do not show up in link checkers? Also what does 'do follow' and 'non follow' links have to do with whether they show up in link checkers? |

Because the link checkers get their information from the search engines and the search engines do not show you all the links. To the best of my understanding the nofollow tag should not influence this. (there is no 'dofollow' tag, it's just shorthand for links that don't have the 'nofollow' tag). |

I saw one of those Matt Cutts videos talking about this, and he said that Google will not show you all links with the link: search. What they will do is just show you a random sampling of links. The reason was that they don't want to show all the links they know of pointing to a website, or only the links they like or "count" that go to a website, because if they did it other people could reverse engineer another site's ranking. To combat this, what they will do is show you a random sampling of links. Sampling meaning, not all of them. Google webmaster tools is supposed to show you all the links pointing to your site, but that takes a while for them to show up there. |

Even the Google webmaster tool does not show all links. Personally I use Majestic-SEO : Competitive Link Intelligence to get a more realistic view on the links for a site. It shows about twice as many links as the webmaster tool if you exclude removed links. Henrik |

I agree with Henrik about webmaster tools not even showing all your links. What is the significance of no folllow and do follow links? Do people find yahoo site explorer shows you all the links? |
