I keep hearing a lot of different opinions about how long it takes for google and other search engines to update your site after you have got new backlinks towards your site?

It's normally done for me within a day or two. If it takes longer I probably haven't done enough >_>

It can take anywhere from a 24 hours to 14 days to get a brand new site on a brand new domain indexed. With really good links or trendy content you might get indexed faster.
Within the past two weeks this seems to be going much slower than it was just a few months ago. Based on what I've observed and heard, it appears that Google has deployed new algorithm that is much slower on initial indexing of new domains and subdomains. |

My old domains sometimes takes only a few minutes while new domains takes about 24 hours to 3 days.

I think you want to know when are you going to be given a PR...right?
Google does PR updates a few times per year, maybe 4-5 updates. So if you have PR 0 inthis moment and you build links in 3 month you could have even a PR of 5. It all depends on the quality of your backlinks. Hope this helps. Andy |

Within 24 to 48 hours. Thats an average though. Once in awhile it may take a week or so...

the correct answer is your site will never update
1. because you cannot see or prove it was updated using backlink check tools 2. you didn't tell google to look at your site, this is very important step how you do that, well, you need to send your backlinks urls to bookmarking sites and rss feeds. |

Is this true that your site will never update on its own and you have to 'do stuff' to get your site updated or will it do it naturally every time that you update content?
