OK, I am seeking advice...I have writeen hundreds of articles and have made a bit of money but the sales are few and far between, I would like to understand SEO better to help me rank in the search engines...could any of you more experienced marketers help me? This is what i do.. Build a landing/review page using a free website like weebly/squidoo/yola Go to googles keyword tool and write an article for every keyword that i find from my seed keyword Submit to ezinearticles first then submit same article to articledashboard, ideamarketers and go articles with a link to the landing page. Start a blogger blog with links back to the articles. Submit rss feeds and use social poster too bookmark the blog. But my question is this...My articles are usually never in the top 10 results for a keyword i would like to rank for...if i could achieve that ONE THING i could get consistent traffic..lie back and rake in the money while watching oprah How do I rank for keywords? what exactly do i need to do to get listed on the top ten page? sorry for the newbeish thread, but i dont really know where else to ask. Thanks in kind... karma is your friend |

| SEO isn't a quick solution, it takes time.. you might notice your pages rise through the ranks over time.

Hi Spiderpig, It sounds like you are spreading your efforts a little too thin. Start with the keyword research. Find a keyword that you want to target that has significant commercial interest and use the keyword tool to locate as many long tail keywords that have a significant amount of search volume. Don't bother with keywords that have little or no search volume. Once you have a few dozen potential keywords, narrow the list to no more than 2 or 3 keywords based on which has the least amount of competition. These will be easier to get a 1st page ranking. Next build a great landing page for your offering, with all of your key elements optimized for your targeted keywords. Your page title and meta description are the most important, make sure they are perfect. Add a couple outbound links to quality, highly ranked pages that contain relevant content and keywords in anchor text and page titles. Now you are ready to start building backlinks. Pick one of your keywords and start building backlinks, as you have done in the past, and be sure that you use the exact keyword in the anchor text of all your backlinks. Focus all of your efforts on this single keyword until you have pushed your page to the top 10 of the SERP for your target keyword. Once you have your page listed on the 1st page of SERP, move to the next easiest keyword and rinse and repeat. There is so much more to learn, but this should get you on the right path. |

| SEO is dead if you are unaware of link building sources - that is the main thing. You may learn a lot about seo techniques but unless you do not know where to drop the links, you will never get the top serp position

Thanks guys.. Especially to Dburk... I just wanted a straightforward approach to trying to do this. I guess it all comes down to experience and figuring out what works and what doesnt. I will focus on just one or two keywords rather than a whole bunch and see what i can do there. Thanks again...i will think of you all when i am a millionaire. |
