Just a little unsure of most effective way using keywords in backlinking. Should we be anchor texting keywords for our main site, articles or inner pages when blog commenting etc or a mixture of all? If we link more to our articles and get clicks will that not help site SEO itself? Basically I guess i'm asking when using anchor text to link back to our site, does the keyword we link matter or does it just count as a link to our site and not help us rank for the keyword we anchor? If that makes sense? Im a coffee behind myself today! lol |

and in greater depth, because I'm bored. I have a huge list of sites for backlinks all broken down into type and page rank. For what I am doing now, I've taken all of the PR 6 - 10 sites and those backlink to my main index using my primary keyword. I also have 4 secondary and long-tail keywords. My PR 3 - 5 backlinks all point to different pages on my site that are optimized for those keywords. After my rankings settle I'll reevaluate my situation and push more backlinks where needed and if everything looks good I'll add more secondary and long-tail keywords into the backlink mix. as a site note: these are not true PR backlinks, they are the angela type profile backlinks. I'll save most of the really good backlinks for last as well as blog backlinks since they can be a pain to sneak by moderators. I'd prefer to see where my sites land with generic backlinks before pulling out the big guns. And yes, this is a several month process because I can only work so fast and am easily distracted by the WF forum. I want to be the 900lb gorilla of that niche so I'm hitting it from several angles. | |

Definitely mix it up and also mix up the anchor text as well.. Some links you get to your site whether they be to your home page or inner pages will be about getting page rank into your site and these links you need not worry so much about anchor text. If you can get anchor text as well then it is a bonus. Then there are the links where the page rank is not so important but the anchor text is. This is all part of a well balanced backlinking strategy. Try not to have all your anchor text the same either going to the same page on your site. This looks spammy and search engines are pretty wise to this now. Another important point is to give just as much attention to the internal linking structure of your site. Anchor text counts with internal links as well. In fact it is the best way in my opinion of showing keyword relevance to the search engines for a page on your site. Quote:
