I used to subscribe to Angela's backlinks, but never really did the work I should have done. However, I did take a week and work on a couple of month's worth of packets.
What I did not understand was if you have many websites (I have over 30 now), how do you do the backlinking for each site? Would you have to create a separate profile for each backlinking site for each of your sites? I can see how this would work for one site you are trying to promote, but how does one use this service if you have lots of sites you want to promote? Thanks! CC |

Currently I am working on my first niche and am promoting 34 and a lander using these packets (in combination with paul's).
First of all, buy roboform if you're going to do this (fills in forms when you click one button), you can go through 30 links in a half hour or so, instead of the hours it would take typing everything by hand. I keep a spreadsheet of all of my articles, what link packets I've built to them, and what identities are linked to them. Each identity has two articles linked to it (you post 2 links on each site). That's how I do things and it works pretty well, going through all 80 of the links i get each month takes 1.5 hours or so. 1.5 hours and you've built 70+ links to 2 articles or sites, seems pretty efficient to me but I'll outsource it later. |

My suggestion is that you have to outsource your work.

I agree. If you can afford to, outsource the work. If you don't have the funds to hire out the work and have to do it yourself then most people can really only manage running 3 or 4 sites max themselves as you do have to create more than one profile on each site if you are putting 2 links on each profile page.
You also have to ping each profile page, bookmark each profile page to ensure they get indexed. |

Lots of good suggestions so far.
As for your main question, I would suggest adding 2 links to your profiles/bio. Also, if you can, I would put them into a sentence or two, rather than just having two anchored text links. IMHO, even putting something like "This is a great site and I look forward to participating. I just put together these two sites, please check them out if you want: ABC and DEF." is better than just the two bare links. Also note, that if I have two pages on two different sites I am backlinking, I will put one page from each site together in the same profile. It won't make a difference as to the number of backlinks to any of the given pages, but you will get twice as many backlinks to your domain that way (I noticed the difference early on with backlinkwatch.com, and changed my strategy). Finally, while I don't outsource, I am a big fan of automation. At the very minimum, Roboform should be your friend. There are three products out there (all advertised in the WSO section) that I am aware of (and am or was a member of) to help automate the process as much as possible. They each work by different methods and to varying degrees of automation. Note also that they are recurring memberships so that should be a consideration. (1) Fran (the one that Anglea and PJ mention in their packets) *basically provides you with a .pdf of exactly how to fill out a Roboform identity that will complete the vast majority of that month's packets. I used to be a member, but now use #2 and 3 below. Fran's product is very good and the cheapest, but I prefer the automation of the other two. (2) Peter Drew has a WSO (Brute Force Linking Loophole), which is the closest to pure automation you will get. It is basically a scripting program that will sign up for you (even has an automated captcha solving system) and then will input all of the required fields automatically. You will have to verify the emails. Not all of Angela's links can be automated, but maybe 24-25 per month make it into each month's update. There are 100 sites so far in the program, and my last run resulted in 67 active profiles being put up. It took me about 15-20 minutes of my time to set up the system and confirm the emails. (3) Stephen Hawkins has a WSO (SEO Link Dominator) which is sort of like Roboform on anabolic steroids. With this week's update to the software, you can have the software "read" the .pdfs that Angela, PJ, Terry Kyle and a host of others have put together. You can then store the link sources in any number of categories or lists that you want. It lists the PR next to each link source. You can also input your own backlink sources into the software. Once you load up your information for a new profile, you can then sign up to each site in any of your categories (e.g., Angela's October Pack). It loads up the sites for you in order, and with a right click you can insert information automatically right from the system (you can have it fill all spots automatically, or select items like "username", "password", etc.). You can either confirm your email in a separate browser and then input your links right away, or you can come back to it. Either way, the software saves the information. So, you'll know what sites you signed up for, which sites temporarily had URL issues (so you can come back), which sites are now broken and you want to abandon (it will delete it from your category), and which sites have profiles on them. In addition, you can right click and save the profile URL. So, once you are done with a packet, you can export to a .txt file all of your newly created profiles. Basically, #2 and #3 above make me a happy man ![]() Quote:

There are a lot of great ways to reply to this query ... but its difficult not to get into trouble and not self promote.

Well, here's a question. I outsourced a team and had them use all of the back link lists you are referring to. In the span of a few weeks, hundreds and hundreds of links were placed for my sites. But I have seen no difference in my search engine rankings, and Google has only recognized a few of the hundreds.
Can anyone tell me that doing backlink-building campaigns actually works? I've focused on it for the past year. It all sounds great in theory, but go and check how many of your back links Google recognizes. You might be in for an unpleasant surprise. I realize it can take months for them to show up and kick in, but seriously....is this just a waste of time? |

I should add...I used all of Angela's back link packets. But I did not ping and bookmark the profiles that were created. Perhaps this will make a difference? I'm just feeling a bit flustered after spending the last year building backlinks, and very few of them have been counted by Google -- and I haven't seen any solid results in the search engine results. Have you?

(1) I ping the backlinks. (2) I bookmark the backlinks. (3) I ping the bookmarks (4) I copy down the RSS feeds for the bookmarking sites that offer it for my bookmarks (5) I create RSS feeds for the backlinks themselves using feedage (Peter Drew's software now offers this functionality, so i'm about to try that too) (6) I send all of these RSS feeds to all of the RSS services. You have to understand that some of the profile pages for these sites are not heavily crawled by Google. Some of mine show up in backlink watch after a couple of days with absolutely no effort by me, some won't. I wnt as many traces and links back to each of these backlinks as I can. If Google can't find the links after this sequence, they won't find it. Also, I check all of my backlinks in backlinkwatch regularly. I don't need to follow all of my sites. I just follow a couple that I am really pushing. I keep track of which ones show up quickly and which don't. I will then tend to keep coming back to the ones that show up easily. With all of the various backlink sources out there now, how many profile backlink sources could one actually put together? I think its safe to say that it is in excess of 10,000. Easily. Just find the ones that stick and keep going back to the well. | |

Anyone have a response to CC's question?
Are there issues with regards to the TOS (terms of service) for creating multiple profiles on the link sites? If I owned a similar site, I don't think I would be happy with dozens of shill accounts created for the purpose of building backlinks at my expense. Thanks! Quote:

Short answer: if you have any moral qualms with it then don't do it. There was a very long and heated debate on this maybe a month or two ago in the main forum. There were very heated thoughts on both sides of it. Personally, I have no problems with it. I have up to 50 accounts on some sites. If the owner really wanted to limit things he would have things like require 5 posts before profiles become publicly viewable or other similar things.
My answer: If the site owner specifically gets fed up with things (i.e., he changes the template TOS and says something like "Please don't sign up to this sign just to add your links.", then I move on. No need for me to get into p#ssing matches with a site mod when there are thousands of other sites. Quote:

What is pinging the backlink. Just pinging from a command prompt or is there a tool for this?

Is it necessary to ping and bookmark backlinks? The pinging bit ok but I don't have a bookmarking software as yet. So I am trying to get away with just using a few of Angela's High PR backlinks.
