Highest Volume Longtail KW as Domain name?

I've been learning a lot here so I want to say thanks to you all.

I've found a great niche with high volumes and little competition. I'm wondering if its best to use the longtail keyword with the highest search volume as my domain name (if available)or part of?

Or would it make a difference if I just use the general KW as part of the domain and use the LTKW as a separate page.

I personally think the URL should appear as professional as possible and not KW-KW-KW-KW.com as compared to KW-sets.com (or similar).

What to you fellows think? Do you think it would play any part in traffic?

I would assume it wouldn't interfere with traffic as my keywords would be targeted on each page, correct?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Hi Mike,

It depends on what your objectives are.

An 'exact-match' domain is a very strong weighting factor - for that particular keyword. That weighting value drops sharply as it moves from exact-match to partial match.

When I build new sites, the process I go through is to find a group of related long tail keywords with decent volume that I can rank for, and use the highest search-volume kw for an exact-match domain name. When 'selecting' the group to begin with, I'll 'group' them by core keyword/phrase, so that some benefit accrues from the domain name.

If your objective is revenue derived from search traffic, forget about whether the domain is aesthetically pleasing. If it helps your page rank well, it will help you achieve your objective. A long or ugly URL on Page 1 will get more traffic than a 'prettier' URL on Page 2.

I've bought a few domains that way. A good sounding keyword phrase that was available as a .com

something like 'freelancegraphicdesign.com' (not mine, just an example)

It might be a little long but with something like this I like how it is keyword rich, has type-in value and is easy to remember.

I also do something very similar to what internetmarketer99 mentioned, start off with a group of keywords and try to find a .com combination that is available.

Shorter domain names are better. Long names look unprofessional. Take the most important 2 keywords in the phrase and build around them. You can use your longtail in the title tag and on your site.

This may be a good idea. As the long tail keyword is the domain name.

Some will say that long domain names will not look professional. Yes I agree, but is the short domain name giving you lots of traffic, if not I will use the former to get traffic.

You need to choose a good domain name for your website.

For your domain name don't go for your keyword, go with your niche.
Any ways you can add keywords as names of your internal pages.
