Default Quick Seo Question.

Ok, I have found a cool little niche, with the 5 keywords I have found there is about 1500 daily searches and about 30k- competition but there are big names in the first position. Let me give you an example, top site is gocompare with a pr of 6, but it is obviously not optimized for that keyword and is a multi million dollar company. So basically the question is, how hard would it be to get ranked #1 for that keyword phrase? Providing there isn't any other sites coming into the niche to. But how hard would it be to knock a gocompare out of position 1.

I have the same question. Is getting SERP placement a matter of one page competing against another page? I'm not clear on how much SERP ranking has to do with the page itself - how well optimized it is for the keyword, number of backlinks, etc. - and how much has to do with the domain its in. I hope someone can shed some light on this.

See where the competition is getting the backlinks from and try to do the same. Look at their title tags - and their headers and text - what KWs are they focusing on?

what do sites #2 - 10 look like?

Being #1 isn't everything.

Synthesize me, And reboot, I need to start again, I need to make it different

If no one is competing for the phrase then Google must put something in the search returns and puts what they think is the best match.
With something so small I would say your chances of getting #1 are very good if you concentrate your efforts on this.

Often just good on site SEO will land you on the first page for a low profile term. Then your link building /article marketing will work you up the ladder from there.

All aspects of SEO are important. You can gain good placements with great on site SEO or some good backlinks. Combining them makes this even stronger.

Just track the competence, see where they are getting backlinks and try to improve their work. I know it requires a lot of effort, but its worth. Interlinking' Websites is a good way to get a good ranking. The search engines rank you higher because it appears you have good link popularity.
