I have some questions I hope can be answered here. I started testing on Yahoo with direct linking to the merchant. I decided to go with the 30 or so keywords the merchant recommended. I created 1 campaign named after the merchant, 1 test group named test group and added my 30 or so keywords. I set my initial bid high (.75 a click.) Around 50 clicks later I got a conversion and broke even. Here are my three questions. 1. How do you know how much to set your bid to initially? I tried the formula commission / 100 but often this is too low. I know it is different for each campaign but a general formula would be appreciated. 2. How many keywords do I use? Do I even bother with generic 1 word keywords when testing? 3. How do I track which keywords convert in Yahoo? If I have 100 keywords then I have to write 100 ads with different tracking numbers or change 100 keywords with different tracking numbers. Is there any easier way? Thanks everyone. |

I am just setting up my first PPC campaign and I will be interested to see the advice you get. (Unfortunately, I have none to give!). I would like to add a question to yours though. What about putting the name of the program in the text of your ad? Good or bad? It's a make money program, yuck! My next one won't be. I think I have to quit forums. I make a decision about what I am going to do, then come on here, and get all this great information, and then am filled with doubts about my course of action. Just kidding, not quitting. I learn a lot here. Cheers, Marimack |
