Hey Gang, I launched Dynamic Positioning News a little over 2 months ago. It is an industry news blog focussing on the Dynamic Positioning niche. The site is built with wordpress & I: Post daily Have Google sitemaps Comment on relevant blogs Post on relevant forums Guest blog Post links back to my articles on the sites Twitter & Facebook pages Submit articles to digg, etc Use All in One SEO plugin, set so that Tags are metakeywords The keywords I am going for are Dynamic Positioning, Dynamic Positioning Vessel, Operator, etc. Using googles keyword tool, Global search volume for DP is only 9900, so it shouldn't be hard to gain the top spot. I was PR2 last week, 11th on google, but now the site isn't even ranking! How can I fine tune my SEO? Thanks in advance S. |

Your website looks nice - regarding your seo I would like to comment on your onsite factors. Firstly your title is very important - I would recommend you use more keywords in your title and do not limit it to just one. You mention that you are targeting keywords such as Vessel, Operator, I would recommend you also enter these into your page title. your meta description reads Dynamic Positioning Ships, News, Operators & Events I would again recommend you place a little more text using more of your keywords and allowing it to read well - your potential visitors will read this in the google searches. It is also a big factor to consider when trying to optimise your page. Your internal linking structure looks fine. Not sure if you have deliberately kept the wordpress and theme link but these can be removed from the footer Pay attention to your heading tags and use them. use bold and strong text for your keywords - moderately. Sometimes its a good idea to have a static page or post on your home page which is keyword rich and using LSI. Hope this helps | |

Thanks for the reply! So more keywords in post titles, I can do that. I have also recently started using strong text. For page title, do you mean the one on top of the browser bar? Im not sure how to modify that. I will put some thought into changing up the meta-description As for the wordpress & theme links, I left them in purposely. I think its a great theme & the author deserves recognition for it. S. |

I've taken a look at your robots.txt, you might wanna change the sitemap from - (yourdomain)/sitemap.xml.gz to - (yourdomain)/sitemap.xml the robots.txt is an instructions for search engine robots.they will only crawl, not download your sitemap.. |

Hi All looks well now - I checked out your google listing and it has picked up on your page title but not your description - They do not always use the description but by looking at your website cache its saying that it was last cached on the 23rd of october - Its kind of strange as they have picked up on the new title - but no need to worry - I think its trying to tell us that it hasnt fully cached your page - So allow a little more time and hopefully you should see your google listing pull up your meta description cheers |

Looks nice but purely from an SEO point please take the following as constructive criticism. SEO notes: 1. only h3 tags on front page - wheres h1 and h2? 2. Dynamicpositioningnews.com - Dynamic Positioning News - Dynamic Positioning Ships, News, Operators & Events - see why they score you low - click the link 3. 6 alt tags missing 4. repeating keywords more than 5 times - "dp" and "dynamic" 5. you keyword stuff the hell out of the lower right hand box area 6. title description should have key words used more Design notes: 1. stick to less font types 2. mixed word caPs use for titlEs - stick to one way or the other Other than that awesome site and really well put together. I only list little issues to help make your site perfect. Again please take this as my 2 cents and nothing more. If you like my suggestions then hit the thanks button. |

This is exactly the kind of advise I am looking for! I want to fine tune this bad boy. So to respond: 1. The layout is dictated by the theme in use. Obviously he didn't write H1 tags into it. Can I insert them manually in the theme editor? 2. Not sure what that site was supposed to tell me. Only showed ownership info... 3. I'll have to look at that, but Im not too familiar with those tags yet. 4. Thats tough, because I try to lace the post headings with keywords, but on the homepage the keywords are also in the Most Commented & Tag Cloud section... You are saying I should be shooting for no more than 5 on the front page? 5. Thats the tag cloud. Ill remove that & replace it with something else. The All In One SEO program uses tags as meta-keywords for the articles, so I try to get Dynamic Positioning in each one... 6. I try to, without getting repetitive For the design Ill consolidate Font used. When you say dont use mixed caps, you mean I can't capitalize every word in the title? I'm going to start working through this list. Any suggestions on how to fix some of these issues would be a big help. And I hit your thanks button ![]() S. |
