Default Can I rank a redirect in the SERPs?

If I have a domain I purchase to redirect to a Clickbank product, can I get that URL ranked in the search results of Google and or the others?

I was wondering if I built a link wheel or a few of them, and did a back link project to that domain, would it be able to get my URL for that site listed in the SERPs?

Has anyone ever done this before? Is this just a stupid idea that would never work? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Hi Tim,

It's been done before, it's known as a Google 302 Page Hijack Exploit. It's a BlueFart technique that could get you banned from Google.

Thanks Don. That sure isn't something that I want to hapen then. Just something that occured to me while I was reading a WSO I bought. But I will just forget that idea as one of the not a good idea group.

Just to follow up with what Don said, I haven't seen a 302 redirect in awhile and all of a sudden two weeks ago I noticed a listing in a niche I'm in, suddenly appeared on Google's first page, sure enough, it was a redirect to a Clickbank product, they probably have the same WSO.

But they didn't last long, literally a day later they were gone and I just checked they aren't listed anymore in the top 1000 for a Google search.

I have seen many links like this in google but they always seem to drop. Many times the site owner used to have content on the page, then they just removed the content and setup a redirect
