I was wondering if signature links have any value in forums in being counted by google. I see them listed in yahoo, but never in google. Is there any "penalty" with google if you have hundreds of backlinks from a single forum?

The Forum signature links worth but less, it doesn't matter if yahoo shows it and google not, but they really effect like the other back links . I said forum signatures worth less because when a forum links to you you will see more then 350 Out bound links so if a forum is having pr 4 and having 300 out bound links what it will worth you can understand! so Google doesn't the links like it but only count the QUALITY BACK LINKS

In the perspective of SEO, you need a lot of forums' signature to make it work! All links from the same site, is viewed like one link... so you need a lot of sites! |

Signature links are great to get a site indexed but, as stated above, you would need a lot of sig links from a lot of different sites to be effective.

Let say you have the number one listing in Google for some keyword phrase you think is important. And not one person clicks on that link. But you have marketing links on websites that people actually click on and use. Which is better? People who chase links solely for SEO purposes are often disappointed by the results. For me personally I could careless about the SEO score... I'm in business to make money and as long as my links are bringing me converting traffic I don't care where they come from... chasing SEO is a lot of wasted effort. Finding customers and putting yourself in front of them is not. |

| Well, most of signature links are nofollow and do not have any link juice but still they are so important they can help you in getting traffic suppose if you do really good post other member will show interest in knowing about you and they will sure visit you signature links or your prfile........also having a lot of links never be problem but it is good and as you say from yahoo you gettting listed these links because yahoo shows all links no matter nofollow or do follow and it is not the case with google.

Don't concentrate on just one kind of link. You should have diversity. Articles, profiles, blogs, forums. Also too many people forget about link bait besides articles. The best kind of backlinks are the ones where someone else is linking to you for your content be that articles, video, themes, gadgets, programs, widgets etc.

I personally would view signatures in forums as pure marketing, rather than linkbuilding.

If you're using forum sigs for seo purposes then go for i but get lots (do follow). If you're using forum sigs for traffic ie someone clicking through, then get lots. I really don't understand all this "Google likes this, likes that". Unless you do a link bomb (who knows how manly links it takes to affect Google) |

You can get quality traffic that can be driven from your signature links on forums and other sites. Like it was said before, its more marketing than SEO.
