All things being equal (IE: Same backlinks, etc..) what would rank higher, a youtube video or an EZA article? What is your experience?

I would guess YouTube all things equal as Google owns it and it has a higher PR (and more backlinks). I've used both for the same keywords with varied results...nothing conclusive... which is why I do both |

I don't think all things COULD be equal. We don't know how the algorithm treats certain elements that one of the sites have that the other doesn't, like a youtube video's rating for example. IF all things could be equal and it was based solely on the strength and authority of the domain you would have to say Youtube because the domain would certainly have more backlinks, and more authority, plus potential extra weight because it's Google owned.. You also have to consider tags, how long your description is, etc. on YouTube |

You're comparing two different marketing strategies...article marketing and video marketing. They are both great. Ive gotten 10x the traffic from 1 video compared to 1 article, but thats my experience so far

They can not be equal .. 2 totally different things.. Google also randomly includes videos in listings, keyword targeted or not (I guess they own it so they can do that).. James |

If a Youtube video really takes off it will outrank EZA. But I've found that to be very hit and miss and there's no way to predict if a Youtube video will really hit. So in generally I think EZA ranks higher in Google. But I often get more visits from Youtube than from EZA even if EZA ranks higher in Google. Because some visitors come directly from Youtube without having ever searched for the term in Google. |
