There's been a lot of talk about the Google "dance" and a lot of simply false things about it have been said. Here's how I beat the Google "dance" most of the time. ... First you have to see things from Google's point of view. They apparently, to get the best user experience, want a very rich site. A site full of content that the user can explore. Before even getting one backlink you should have at least ten articles on your site - at the minimum. Once you've done that the first thing you should do is get some proper social bookmarking done. Don't be cheap and get 1,000 for $1. Pay $20, $30, even $40 for some quality SB'ing to be done by hand. This surge in links will raise you to a high level - this is the beginning stage of what's being referred to as "the dance". (Now for most people this is the peak of their journey, Google than starts shuffling their site and eventually it falls far down the listings.) ...What we want to do is keep our site there. We want it to stay there and use that position as a starting point from which we can get to #1. Once you reach this high point, whether it be #6 or #87, you can't waste much time. ...When you leave your site that's when it'll get moved around. At this point you need to be aggressive in your endeavors. Show Google this site is worth something and not just a flash in the pan. Put at least 3 or so quality articles on it per day for around a few weeks. (Get them social bookmarked to if you really want to be ballin'...) The time you'll need to do this for, and the amount of articles you need to do this for, varies according to the competition you have. For "acai" you'd want to have XX-XXX articles added daily - but for the keyword "is the acai berry any good" you'd only need one or two daily. Along with your content being added you want to have a link wheel made. Since your site is new, and so is the domain most likely, don't go all out. Outsource, or do yourself, around a 10 piece link wheel. (Again according to your keyword you might want to raise that a bit.) Start SB'ing and building links to your different web 2.0 properties that make up your link wheel so they are strong and, again, aren't just a flash in the pan. ... See what we did there? You now not only have links to your site from the different social bookmarks but you also have 10+ high quality links from your link wheel - don't ever think quantity beats quality. But that's not the "cool" part... ...If your going after a low-medium competition keyword your Web 2.0 properties, for the time being, will out rank your own main "money" site! Chances are you may see your Web 2.0 properties on the first page bringing your money site much needed traffic. (And hopefully a little money to help you on your journey on the way up.) So even if your site did start to see the Google dance it wouldn't really matter as much because you'd still be getting traffic and maybe a little money from your well ranking web 2.0 properties. (Because of the great links you now have you shouldn't suffer massive fluctuations anyway though.) ... I won't get into how to than make your website reach #1. But this should keep your site stable. You should now have steady footing and you now should be able to go forward without the fear of going backwards. You've now, hopefully, beaten the Google dance. Quote:
...it goes without saying that if your targeting a low competition keyword that gets 1,000 searches a month this would not be very cost effective. But for those targeting keywords where the Google dance costs them time and money than this will certainly help. Hope this has helped, Zach P.S - I love the forum and all but I don't love spending over half an hour answering PM's like I did a few days ago. (I don't know how some of you do it..) So if you have any questions about what I talked about, although I think I covered everything you need to know, than ask here and maybe another member can help ya out.

I'm not so sure you should be telling people to create link wheels if they don't know what they are doing. It's not that simple and they should be more educated on the procedure if attempting this or else risk getting sand boxed.

That's why you outsource it to people who do them for a living. ...I've never made one myself. Zach |

Glad you liked it. Backlinking is very important. But you can't just ignore your on page SEO. The secret is getting quality back links not quantity. Zach |

Again I don't agree to some extent. Yes you want quality links which in the long run will serve you better but all links count. I have competitors who crush me with junk links and they still rank higher.

It's mimicing organic growth. Content and backlinks are continually added over a period of time to not raise any red flags. Once you've established your site then you can blast it with every backlink you can find. Now, the SEO nerds can debate if it's good or bad to add mass links in a short amount of time and the usefulness of link wheels.

So you're saying I can make dodgy looking link wheels to my competitors sites and get them all sandboxed? I better get to it!

Good point I take that back. More like a waste of time if doing it incorrectly. Thanks for the smart reply.

Good info. Do you see website/blog directory submissions as having much effect? Or are they mostly a thing of the past?

Idea of link wheel is good but risky at the same time! If can't do properly you'll be a looser! SEO is a long term process so keeping patience is must and should not take such steps to achieve quick results that can make more problem!

Just build your link more consistently, any spike of links will trigger Google dance! As long as you keep your site seems organic, like: 1. Posting article slowly at start... 2. Getting links consistently or don't get more than 200 links a day unless you do it for few days consistently!
