Why is this site ranked #3 for 6 Million View Keyword?

Abortion Facts - Information on abortion you can use

This site is ranked #3 for "Abortion" yet it is has not been updated in 3 years (The owner of the site told me this personally). They only have 4,000 outgoing links. There are many other sites with regular updates as well as tons more quality backlinks. Anyone have any ideas?

Because Google looks at a lot of factors besides the quantity of links. I have a site ranking in the top 10 for a very competitive keyword that I did nothing to for more than 5 years and has very few links. It does have a keyword rich domain name just like the site above and is very old.

10,240 yahoo links for all links
22,914 Yahoo linkdomain for all links
59 Delicious bookmarks indexed
1800 links indexed on Bing
415 links indexed on Google

And that's just for starters.....

So, it seems that domain age has a HUGE part to play in the SERPS.

It seems so. I have 2 websites (not mine) dominating in #2 and #6 on top google top 10, in a very hard niche.

While they are pure junk, they are 15+ years old and have thousands of (strange) links.

ps: not sure google can find the domain age on non .com domains.

So, where is the best place to find aged domains?

If you do buy them, won't they turn back to "o years" since the registrar info changed?

The PR rank has something to do with it but I am guessing the domain age is the biggest part.

I don't think you can point to one factor. Because like the previous poster stated, Google looks at various factors when ranking. I think domain age is just one of probably 15-20 factors that Google looks at.

Very True but It is even more than that in my opinion! The Word "Abortion" is in the domain name and its the first word too.

None of the top 10 results contain that word in the domain.
On page 2 there is actually a website called: Abortion.com PR4 which has more pages indexed and is older (one would think it should rank)...But is missing some basic yet important On Page optimization like a simple H1 tag...with the word abortion...there is no h1 tag!!!

On the other hand AbortionFacts.com has an h1 tag of abortion information..bla bla bla...which in a way is included in the title tag....relevance between title tag an H1 tag is important

one more thing the words "abortion facts" Is an LSI word which is MUCH more relevant to abortion rather that "abortion clinic" which Abortion.com uses... and there are other factors as well.

I've been testing and logging the results of many strategies of on page....and boy I truly believe that on page counts as 50% of rankings...from what I've been seeing...PR isnt that important..I've seen PR 1 websites outranking PR 6 there are many more on page factors that are very easy to optimize but people neglect them....
