Default anchor text questions

what happen when you are #1 on a certain keyword "pizza pepperoni"


and then you start using another anchor text for backlinks, "cheese pizza"


do you lose the rankings for "pizza pepperoni" ??

Actually it is good to change up and have a few "odd ball" anchor texts out there. However, hopefully you are not trying to off-site optimize for that keyword also on the same page. If so, leave that page alone and optimize a new page for that term.

test it. no one can predict... in my opinion they are related and can help your ranking by vocabulary words

I think it can help with the new keyword. If you want to really build out a strong campaign for that keyword, then try building and linking to a new page with more content on that specific keyword

You don't want too many links all with the exact same anchor text, it looks spammy. My experience would suggest new links/anchor text (rather than changing existing ones) will have a beneficial effect for both the existing and new keywords.

However, nothing is impossible, so you will need to monitor the results as I'm sure you will!

I would certainly vary your anchor text and an increasing number of links using a new keyword/phrase shouldn't impact on your current positioning.
