Now my site rank No.2 and 3 of my target keyword. This keyword shows 1600 exact searches as well as 5400 broad searches per month....
But I'm not getting any traffic from this keyword... Any ideas? |

Hi sappire,
A keyword that gets 1600 monthly searches should result in about 12 visits a day for the #1 position, if it performs about average. Position #2 or #3 should average 3 to 7 visits per day, if your listing performs as well as the average. If your page title and meta description is not well written you might get much less. Have you checked to make sure that you are logged out of personalized search while checking your ranking? You could have accidentally forgotten to log out before checking.

^ Yeah I agree with edpudol1973 posted above. I also encounter it before with my target keyword. But seems my keyword is not that effective since there is more effective keyword. I mean maybe your keyword has a low volume of searches.. Well, I guess you also need to do other process to get some traffic. Continue to promote your site by doing SMO.

You should also keep in mind that the Google keyword tool isn't always going to be accurate. It's great for getting a general idea of the searches performed for the keyword, but it is in no way exact and you shouldn't expect to get the exact amount of traffic it is reporting.

Thanks guys. My keyword is a product keyword too like in edupudo1973's example. But it is a keyword in normal word to word order like "nikon digital camera".
And dburk, yes, sure, I logged out of my google account before I checked my google ranking. Or my website would be on position #1 lol And the weird thing is that I can't see a search from that keyword in analytics report. All my traffic is from other long tail keywords. Okay, I might wait a little to see more data and since I've achieved no.2 and no.3 position, I might carry on with other keywords. btw: the no.1 position is the product company site. Thansk again, warriors! |

I'm in the same boat for some of my keywords. If you have google adwords, you might try and bid for page 1 of that keyword. You can then track how many impressions are made for that specific kw per month. Unless google is lying about those numbers too, I would say there keyword search tool is pretty accurate.

Hi sappire,
You might need to write a really clever page title and/or meta description. Something that the searchers find so compelling they simply cannot resist clicking. That ought to make all the difference.

Few things affect the actual visitors:
1. Google keyword tools shows all searches from search engine and content network, while you are looking for search engine count! 2. You may be rank for the keyword on your local search, not necessary ranked well on Global search! 3. Your title tag and description is not converting well... 4. Only about 30% ~ 40% of the actual search users will visit your site even if you rank on #1, and #2 cuts half of that! That's why your page is not expecting the visitors you hope

I'm sorry to have to correct you, but the tool shows search network traffic. The content network impressions are not part of this data. This number is a little high. The best data I have seen (The AOL leaked data) shows the #1 position only gets a 23% CTR on average. (2,075,765 clicks out of 9,038,794 searches). While the #2 position gets 6.5% CTR. These numbers do make your point even more valid. | |

You can't always rely on the Google Keyword tool to be right.
The searches are related to Adwords - not related to the actual searches put into Google. |

Too many variables to consider. A lot more info is required to determine why you are not getting traffic...
But, what I can come up with is that you could be in Market that trending downwards. Therefore, the Market is not there. The best thing is to do your analysis and test again. If you get no results, I would consider going into another NICHE. |
