Why do they call it "link juice"?

I wonder how people came up with the term "link juice". It sounds like some sort of ooze.

I always imagined backlinks like Spiderman's shooter webs joining one building to another, or one site to another, allowing for anyone to cross over.

I guess one person's analogy is another person' Picasso.

Link juice is just a way to call a link power, and the higher the domain PR / page PR the better the link power.
