Default Do Follow/No Follow...a little confused

I never totally understood the emphasis behind do follow and no follow websites. I sort of have an idea about what they do. I know there is some HTML code you can manipulate to make a site into do follow or no follow, but my question is...

What effect does a Do follow or a No follow site have on my website? Why would it be in my interest to seek one type over another?

I'm trying to understand why marketers place such an emphasis on this.

Thanks.

Note that there is no such thing as a dofollow or nofollow website, but there are nofollow links. All links are by default dofollow (i..e., Google will follow the links and count the links for linkjuice).

But, you can add a nofollow tag to any or all links on a webpage and make any link nofollow, which according to Google means that they will not follow that link (note that some people feel that Google still gives some linkjuice for nofollow attributed links, but that is another debtate).

When someone around here says "so and so social bookmarking site is no follow", that is shorthand for saying that the links that you get for bookmarking on that site are nofollow, not that the entire site is nofollow.

Do all affiliate links need to be made "no-follow"?
If not, when and where is "no-follow" used and not used?
Text links in blogs, articles?
Banner links?

Exactly, Nofollow is an attribute if that added to link then that link is called as nofollow that have no link juice and if you have an inbound link that is no follow then it can give you just referral traffic.

And, if a link does not supprted with nofollow attribute it means that is dofollow link and have more value to your site as it have link juice so can help your site in omproving ranking as well as traffic to your site.
