how hard to beat a micro niche adsense site?

I found a nice keyword and the 1st position is owned by a site thats purely built for adsense.

thekeyword.com <-- parked
thekeyword.net <-- parked
thekeyword.org <-- in first position

The site is a wordpress which looks like it was designed 10 years ago, but the domain was purchased in 2007, and it seems like the current owner picked it up in a recent auction. Ive read through the google sniper course and he doesnt mention what to do if the domain isnt an exact match. The owner of this adsense made site has four or five websites (pr0 - pr2) setup related to this niche and has pointed backlinks from all of them to this site. I'm thinking it might be easier to overtake them with a squidoo lens or maybe a hubpage but I dont like how they crowd out my web page with their own ads.

edit: this site has backlinks from ezinearticle and goarticles, it looks like the xfactor method everyones been talking about

Hi, try doing some basic research on the domain to see exactly what you have to do, i use Niche Keyword Competition Checker Free SEO Research Tool to give me some info on what i need to gain an insight on the competition.

If it's a micro site with just a couple of pages it should be relatively easy to beat if you produce a "proper" website that has great content updated regularly. You will need to do your onsite and offsite SEO, probably some article marketing and some backlinking and be patient. If your target does not respond to your actions you should be able to take their top spot.

It's easy to outrank just about any sites that are considered micro niche. Just get high PR backlinks and you'll be fine.
