Default A Good Way to Quickly Test whether or not a Keyword is doable ?

I was wondering of this is a good idea or not

Before going to all the trouble of buying a domain name and putting up a website what about submitting an article to Ezine using the keyword you are going after ?

If it's an easy niche to get ranked for then Ezine should easily rank high correct ?

I recently got ranked #1 in google for an ezine article I wrote for a 2 word phrase. It doesn't get much traffic of course but getting ranked number 1 for a broad phrase match of 2 words made me think Ezine might be a good way to test the keyword before going to all the trouble of buying a domain and putting up a site.

What are your thoughts to this potential time and money saving strategy ?

Thanks

the SEO expert have say and learn it from them that, the two keyword phrase is good for the pageranking and get index fast, but the visitor is low because people like to search most question than the original keyword like "how", "learn", "what", "correct", example "how to make money online", "learn how millionaire affiliate earn money" etc. You should try it. Than other word, by searching the good keyword make sure that the keyword search result is lower than 1000. If the keyword result is 10000++ you will gonna lost the war. Example : Results 1 - 10 of about 162,000,000 for make money online. (0.17 seconds) << totally dead and don't use only this keyword.

If you have ideas you should always test them ou. That's the only sure way to know.

Generally for any keyword I'd analyse the top 10 ranking sites to see if they are optimized for the keyword phrase in question. Keyword elite 2.0 is good for this as it can do this task with a click.

The title tag is a good way to evaluate whether a page or site is optomised as it is probably the most important onpage element to get right as well as the body content. After that check the backlinks for the top sites and analyse the anchor text.

If the strength is quite low then a rich url (without the hyphens ideally) and a well structured site with good content should take the top spot once its aged a little. I would start your backlinks gradually though and then take it up a notch every month.

For sure that is a good way to test if you are going to have any success.

If you look at the Google keyword tool and enter your keyword - and chooses exact, if you get around 500 - 1000 searches monthly, then you will get some traffic.

Thanks for the advice. I know about analysing the existing top 10 sites. What I am curious about is what does it mean if my Ezine Article gets #1 position in Google ? That's what I am wondering.

Does that mean that search term is very easy to rank #1 on ? Or would I have a hard time beating my own Ezine article off the #1 spot ?

Further would someone mind enlightening me as to what the difference is between broad, phrase and exact search terms ?

I'm pretty sure broad means that the keywords are in the site but maybe not in that exact order i.e if you search for "lose weight" broad, it would find sites with the phrase "lose some weight". I think it's the difference between phrase and exact I don't know. One of them I assume would leave out sites with the phrase "lose some weight" and only return sites with the phrase "lose weight". However I don't know which of the 2 that is and then further I have no idea what the 3rd term means

Thanks

I think this post might help: What are keyword matching options? - AdWords Help

As for competition analysis, that's just for you to have an idea how many links (and how quality your link is) you might need to outrank your competitor. Just keep building more links until your article shows on page 1.

The easiest to rank is exact match, and then phrase match and you need more links and authority before you will rank for broad match.

That adwords post helped explain the difference between broad, phrase and exact. Thanks.

So when people are looking to see what keywords are good to go for what traffic number should one pay attention to ? Broad, phrase or exact ?

For example I have a niche website that is on page 1 for both of my target keywords. For a 2 word keyword it is #7 and a long tail 3 word it is #4.

According to Google's keyword tool the 2 word keyword gets 6600 broad searches, 4400 phrase searches and 3600 exact matches. The long tail 3 word keyword gets 590 broad, 390 phrase and 260 exact match searches per month.

This particular site gets less than 10 hits per day, so about 300 per month. Does that sound right considering the number of apparant searches these keywords should be getting and the fact I am on first page ? Does a #7 position get 10% of the exact match traffic ?

What sort of traffic should I expect to get with the figures above ?

Thanks
