Default Buying an established site - has it worked for you?

Today i was reading a lot of threads in several forums regarding buying established sites. Some of the responses were saying that if the business of the site gets changed then google will make the authority to be zero and thus there will be no use in buying an old site with lots of links.

I just want to ask you about your experiences of buying an old site with lots of links. How did you use it ?And did it make you money or you got slapped by google?

Here are some threads that were useful to me:

Thank you

Yes I've experianced this. If you're buying a site never change the subject or the whois (Google can now check whois and determin if ownership has changed etc).

If it makes money just keep doing what the site is good at and build on it.

Buying an established site is a one big gambling. It can be pay rolled but also it could be not so. I bought one adsense site before couple of months and i had to do a lot of things after one just one month to get back on #1 google. But of course it's just my experience
