Hi all, I can't find the thread, but the other day I stated that it was nonsense that load times for a site could impact on your Google rankings. However, Matt Cutts has now said that while slow page load times won't negatively impact your rankings, fast load times may have a positive effect. Google has also just launched this project: Chromium Blog: A 2x Faster Web The fact Matt Cutts has now commented on this at the same time this project was launched is obviously significant, so keep an eye on it. So I was wrong, but happy to share what I found that proved I was! |

What you have said now is what I've been saying for a long time. Google does not penalize your site. What you do either raises it, or lowers it. But the "load time" would have to be some type of long-term average. Servers and IPs burp all the time. A check of how fast your site loads would only be valid for that exact second. Maybe we're talking more of "site not found" issues. Make sure you are on a reliable host with almost 100% uptime. I can't say it's even possible to be up 100%. Even google goes down for milliseconds here and there. Paul |
