You mentioned that you stopped using MNF. Fire it up again sometime and perform all upgrades to get it to 4.6.2. I think you might change your mind about it. I don't even do the SOC calc's any more, but you can go through and check domain availability very easily.

All these free options are great too, and I use them all in conjunction with MNF right now.

I'm tired of my signature... Deleted.

Yep, I've heard great things about 4.6.2 especially the new domain availability tool. I guess James finally got tired of all our emails pleading for exact match domain availability in the results listings. From my brief bit of testing, its a major step forward.

In terms of brainstorming for ideas, be receptive to everything around you. Try to maintain a positive and upbeat attitude and stay inspired. Read, listen to music, serve others, seek balance and you will find yourself more receptive to the creative, right-brained state of mind that you need to be in to uncover hidden niche opportunities. I found my #1 earning site while playing with my kids!

The interesting thing is that, the niche discovery phase quickly yields to the niche research phase, so you do a sharp transition from creative, inspired right-brain thinking over to persistent, analytical and methodical left-brained thinking so you need to be well balanced to excel at niche discovery as well as niche research.

The cool thing with this is, the cost for making a mistake, vs the opportunity for discovering a real cash cow that will provide consistent passive income on autopilot, is very very low.
Wow great advice, prolly the best advice in this thread.

Anyway I am planning on launching 10 sites this weekend so I will repost results.

For everyone asking questions on searching with quotes and search results numbers, guys you need to forget all that stuff.

This process is not complicated. Get a keyword, check google competition on page one with seo firefox plugin, get the domain, write a keyword rich article 500-1000 words, put your site up and then profit. Then go do another one, and then another one!

I have added EPN as well to some of my sites and actually got an epn sale for around $14.

Craig,

The one that I use for this exact method of checking domain availability across all TLD's is:

Ajax Whois 2.0 - fast domain name search and whois

Hope the resource helps someone.

CSS = cascading style sheets. Basically, (And I'm definitely not a tech person so I could be a bit wrong here) it's used to set up a template for your website without affecting the content.

I hate how I get myself hung up on such stupid things...

Referring to the 4th step;
4) Look for three PR- or PR-0 sites in the top ten results for the KWP that you can unseat - Once you've verified 2 and 3 above, type your search term (without quotes) into Google using the SEO4Firefox plug-in to determine if you can meet the 3 site min criteria.

I am slightly confused about the "PR- or PR-0 sites" thing. What is the "PR-" part of that?

He means sites with no page rank or a page rank of zero. It means that these aren't authority sites and you should be able to outrank them and take their place.

I hear ya, I appreciate the help.

Two more questions then I am going to just dive in.

1. In regards to the minimum of 2500 searches per month, is that local or global? I am unfamiliar with the difference.

2. With "exact" matches, are these referring to people who actually type in the keyword with quotes?

Every website is assigned a PR or Page Rank for long.

A PR of 10 means your site is super important in the eyes of google
while a PR of 1 or even -1 (minus one) means it needs some TLC.

Usually, sites with low PR are fairly easy to beat in the rankings while knocking off a
PR 7-10 is a tough gig.

No problem...hopefully by helping you I'll get moving, lol.

1. Global is my understanding.

2. No. The point of typing it in using quotes is to see how many competing websites you have. But like Clickbump and others have said no one searches for things using quotes....so search without quotes and study the top ten on google to see who your REAL competition is.

With question 2, I was referring to this step from the 5 step method:

3) Seek niches that have a minimum of 2500 EXACT match monthly searches for their keyword phrase (KWP) - use Google Adwords Keywords Tool (GAKT) for this.

Where you select "exact" under the "match type" criteria in the GAKT. I was just curious as to what this is targeting. As I have launched two sites based off broad keyword searches for the keyword, and that same keyword has under 10 searches a month when I choose "exact" lol - so I am assuming those sites are probably junk now..

Clickster,

A question I have and probably others too is this.

How many advertisers, as a minimum, do you look for to ensure we are getting the
nichiest?? ads showing on our site?

For PR- and PR-0 sites, that are not exact match domains anything less than 100 should be beatable. Any more than that and you need to check them out to see if they are quality backlinks.

I have found a humdinger.

According to my keyword tool this 4 word term gets 1989 searches a day.

intitle= 18,300
inurl= 13,500
Adwords advertisers= 9
PR of top 10 is = 4, 4, 5, 2, 6 ,6 3, 4, 3, 3, for straight search without quotes

Page backlinks are= 511, 0, 5, 0, 6000, 4000 (these 2 are wikipedia), 0, 100, 150, 0

.com and .net are taken but parked.(pricks) but .org is available.

All top 10 are subpages, some even 3 deep

Am I a chance here or what?

just curious

1) AIO seo: I don't use it but I've heard rave reviews. The wordpress template I'm using (see sig) gives me optimum seo out of the box without plug-ins (h1, h2s, tableless design w/css, metatags, post titles in h1, more content, less markup, xhtml strict, etc)

2) G Analytics - I stopped using it and just use G webmaster tools. I'm only interested in search phrases I'm ranking for and ctr on those phrases. GWT gives me all of that.

3) wp-cache? don't know, will look into it. Site can't be much faster as is. Simple sites, 1 page plus (contact, about, privacy)

4) Akismet - installed by default but I don't allow comments on these sites.

Does age matter at all? I have 2 sites in spot #1 and #2 for the keyword I am going for.
They both are PR0 and have 0 back links, but one is 10 years old and the other is 11 years old, If I throw up a perfectly optimized site with a couple back links; theoretically, could I take one of their places?

If the site is that old and only has only managed to attain a PR0 in that time, it would seem, they are not held in very high esteem by G, but are simply the best of the available matches for the search.

If it were me, and all other fundamentals checked out, I'd be delighted to move on this.

BTW: Its more likely that the site got dinged by G and PR deflated as a result (perhaps due to paid links or some other faux paux that G dislikes, only speculating). I'd imagine that just on age alone, you'd get to PR2 without effort after 10 straight years online.

Ignore my PM, I am sure you are swamped (this has been one of the best threads in along time IMO).

Quick question:

I am doing it a little different then you in that I am building a WP site where I am going to go after keywords for that site via many pages (10-15) on site (as opposed to your 3 page site going for one KWP). These pages will be optimized for the keywords and the keywords will be researched as you laid it out.

I am going for keywords that will not fetch anywhere near the 2500 per month threshold you established for your type of site ...

Just curious if you had any thoughts or feedback which can help me?

Hi again Marhelper. If the combined exact search count for all of your pages is high enough to support the effort, despite not having a single page that gets at least 2500 exact (local) searches, then you might be ok.

As you've indicated, I've not done it this way (so I'm only speculating :-)

I got my 6 articles delivered last night and plan to get the sites online tonight. I have 6 more ready to start working on tonight as well. I'll buy the domains and order the articles, should get them up in about a week.

My goal after getting them published is to get indexed quickly. I'm going to try some things and see what works best for me.

I am not using WP on these sites, because I think that with a highly optimized PHP site, I should do just as well and not have the database overhead. I plan on doing some testing on this later, though.

I'll let you know how thing progress.

Thanks for all the great info clickbump.

I found a niche with 5,400 exact searches, got the exact keyword domain and built a little mini wordpress around it.

To get it indexed I did some social bookmarking and a couple blog comments, gonna see how fast indexing is going this way. Not fully comfortable with the . method.

Also launched another site that has lower than your prescribed 2,500 searches, but am going after several longtail keywords with different posts on the site (kinda an experiment for me) to see how well these posts rank in the SERPs for their targeted keywords.

All good. Many paths to the garden. I stick to the one I know best as long as I'm finding fruit along the way...

I only look at local exact searches, but its only because I like to keep things simple. This works for me. Often times global will be higher, lower or the same so I just focus on local, and count the global search variance as a push...

do you have a separate hosting acct for each mini site or domain you create? or do you just have them as an addon to a main domain?

The best suggestion I've heard is 20 sites per server. I use add-on domains.

You can also link icons like <a href="http://google.com")</a> and <a href="http://yahoo.com"></a> if you want. I kinda found that one on accident.

I have bought Clickbump's Word Press theme and found it loads super fast.

I hope to build a keyword site a day with no links (except to be indexed), and then use Xfactor's method on the niches that make money in the first month.

I love keyword research and making tightly built micro niches, so this is a natural for me.

I will stick with adsense, but I belong to many other networks and may sprinkle them in if adsense is not the best money maker.

Thanks Clickbump, you really pushed me over the top after Xfactor got me excited about internet marketing again.

Look in your inbox first thing in the morning for 1.3e Many more enhancements, same super fast page loads (I'm a bit militant about speed :-)

Stories like that make this thread even more special for me. If something I wrote did that, I'm glad you found it, proud for you that you acted on it and humbled I was the vehicle used to bring it to you.
