Hi guys, I`m getting a bit confused as to how to add the adsense code to my next site, do i create a new custom channel or a new url channel ?? I am really just getting started building adsense sites the first site i built was a site targeting ads for`tattoo laser removal` i added the adsense code and watch my `todays earnings` at the top show a few $$ in green every week. Then i wanted to add a new site `used go karts` and i wasn`t sure what to do next so i added a `new channel` `used go karts` then another site was added `panasonic bred maker` again i added a `new channel`. but i cannot see the earning for these 2 sites in the `todays earnings` i can only see the earnings when i click `top channels`. The reason i think i`m doing this wrong is that i can only add 5 of these channels so i`m thinking i need to add a new URL ??? So what i really need to know is i want to add adsense to a new site this week can somebody please tell me if what i need to do is add a new URL channel or is there something different i should do Please help guys !! Jim |

Want do you want to track? A specific position or a page or an entire site? For a specific position, use a channel, for a page or a site, use url. |

You don't need to create specific ads for URL channels, Google is smart enough to work it out. I made this mistake at first and got in a right mess!

Jim, What exactly is the problem?? I prefer to add url channels since you can add, I believe it is 200, for your adsense account. You are only allowed a few custom channels. Adding a url channel only means that Google will track the clicks and impressions on that one page. You can add mysite.com and you can add mysite.com/bluewidgets.html and mysite.com/tastywidgets.html. In this case Google will track the entire site, and also track those two separate pages. (Meaning that if you tally up the earnings when you drill down, the total will exceed your total earnings. Is this getting you confused, maybe??) If you add separate pages from a site, do note that if mysite.com brings in $10 that is the total for that site, including the pages you may have added. But when you drill down you will see the earnings for each page. Clear? When you look at the "Adsense for content" is it the total earnings, and then when you drill down you can see the various sites... I'm not sure how you got messed up... What you could do is to cancel all the custom channels and add url channels instead, (though I can't see why, I'm using both at the same time) No need to cancel the ads from your pages and getting new code. Also, your separate channels will not show unless there are impressions. Can this be where the confusion lays? Can you be a bit more clear on how you are messed up? Evita |
