Black Hat vs White Hat SEO.

As I type this I'm getting hundreds of 404 error reports for rejected comments some toilet head is trying to spam one of my sites with. That would be considered black hat and when I zero in on source I am going to do something black hat in return.

White hat SEO uses a lot of legitimate technique to gain links, while black hat spam for links!

White hat SEO involve in good to great content creation, building relationship with authority sites and setup powerful link bait page or even site!

You can gather a lot of useful resources, free software, free content or even free scripts and tools to attract tons of links.

Black hat SEO will spam tons of sites just for very little amount of links. They use automation tools like XRumer to harvest tons of sites for links, and post junk on these sites for link.

Both method works!

No matter what the white hat guy says, black hat people know search engine like the back of their hands, they can rank high on search engine, even for a long period of time (few years!)! Smart black hat guy cover their tracks very well, and even Google is having a hard time trying to catch them all!

For me, I like to use both system to my advantages, but bias towards white hat, because black hat method to get links, is a bit too "inefficient". Nevertheless, both system work if you know what you are doing

Google is very smart, so don't use black hat tatics or your site will be permanently banned.

black hat can still be used to promote products that aim for traffic spikes and short term sales. for a service oriented longer run its definitely -ve

Black hat - uses unethical ways just to get back links. Cloaking, door-way pages, link farms and hidden text are some of the methods that falls under black hat.

White hat - uses ethical ways in order to get back links.

You know, what's white hat or black hat varies from person to person. Each person has their own idea. What's white hat to one might be black hat to another.

I'm sure that some folks on here consider the massive number of profile backlinks I create (for no purpose other than backlinks) as black.hat, but to each their own.

Black hat and white hat mean different things to different people, as clearly outlined in this thread. One guy reckons he will do something black hat to a comment spammer (thereby actually being exactly the same as him), while others I know advocate blog commenting as a legitimate way to build a backlink.

Lets take the comment spam as an example. If I use a program and spam a million general comments, its black hat. If I use google and manually place random commemts its accepted, and avocated, by many as a form of manual linkbuilding.

Both are actually spam, both are done with the express intention of getting a link.

While you are correct to say that both methods are done to get backlinks there is a fundamental difference between the two approaches. Smart blog owners and let's face it, the smart guys are the ones with quality blogs can spot a fake comment a mile off.

I see it everyday on my blogs, comments like "great post, I can't wait to read more" or "You are right in what you are saying, but I didn't agree with the bit in the first paragraph". It is blindingly obvious when someone posts rubbish comments. This however, is still a mile away from the comment spam which thankfully Akismet can spot a mile off anyway.

There is a right way to post comments for backlinks and a wrong way. If you don't take the time to read the article and then make an intelligent comment about it then you will fail. Why try and label it as black or white hat? It means nothing, it is all about contributing something of value and in return getting some publicity for your site.

white hat can make you income for long terms and you will have good reputation by doing this.

black hat can only worked for 2 month or maximum 3, but one day you will loss every thing and all your efforts.

Black hat and white hat is the most popular term in SEO. White hat term is used for the technique that is performed according Google rules. While black hat is used for illegal activities in Google view such as keyword stuffing, creating unnecessary pages etc.

Someone once told me, if you get punished by Google, then your methods are black+hat; otherwise, it is white+hat.

Silly as it sounded back then, it is the definition that I now use. The distinction between the two will vary from person to person. Because I am in the IM business, then as a matter of record, Google is the authority. Thus, if Google doesn't punish my actions, then, at least for that moment in time, my actions are white+hat.

As many already explained, as with anything else in life as it is generally referred, White Hat = Good, legitimate guys; Black Hat = THE BAD GUYS!

Just search for it on Google.. you will learn plenty about black hat SEO. There are plenty of people making a huge living off of black hat. However it is constant work "staying ahead" of the game so you don't get caught, or by the time you get caught you have something else up your sleeve going on so you can continue to make a living. A never-ending cat and mouse game.

Obviously black hat is not recommened, but different strokes for different folks.

A lot of the methods people use on this forum would be classed as any other shade but white. Backlinking is the main one where people manipulate the search engines by creating their own backlinking network. This is obviously not natural and not how search engines ideally want to rank data.

BH isn't really about SEO anyway. The only difference between Xrumer (which is seen as BH) and a lot of the products people release on this forum is that Xrumer can get more done quicker,the method is the same.

BH is more about fraud and deception in the IM world.

Whitehats are those website designers that "play nice" and try to follow all of the search engine guidelines to optimize their site. Blackhats are where website designers use backdoors, cloaking, and other tricks to optimize sites.
