Default For a blog, does the index page need constant updates for SEO?

Hi Troopers

If I have a Blog, and the first page/index page is just going to have static information, like about the company or whatever which won't change, and then I have a second page called news which is where the regular posts and updates would be, would Google take that into consideration for SEO, or does it really have to be the index page that has the majority of the updates.

Not sure if I've made that clear or not??

Thanks
Phil

I say no.

And I'll use another WF guy who is respected and successful as an example.

Google 'business consulting' you'll see danielmalano.com up in the top 3. His blog layout is exactly what you are talking about.

If it's working for him, I can't be all bad.

Synthesize me, And reboot, I need to start again, I need to make it different

It's not a bad idea to read some of his older posts as well. He has some good advice and obviously he is doing something right.

Daniel Molano - Internet Marketing, Business Consulting, Work From Home, Make Money Online is the link, ranks #3 for 'business consulting'

No, it doesn't need to be updated.

Some kind of updating can be helpful in competitive niches but for average niches just your basic onsite SEO and ongoing link building will insure good search traffic.
