Backlinks not showing in Google Webmaster

I have been creating lots of profile page backlinks, the kind you get from Angelas packet and such. I also go to pingler and ping the page when I set each one up. I'm not seeing these show up in Googles Webmaster links. I have been doing this for over two months and only two of these pages are showing up. What am I doing wrong on my backlinks?

Google backlink checker isnt reliable.

Have you tried Yahoo's tool?

Track your keyword ranking, don't track links, you can't see all of them, but if you track your keyword, you know your effort pay off!

Have not tried Google backlink checker, I was looking at Google Webmaster Tools. Yahoo shows me about 20 more than Google Webmaster.

Yeah, Google Webmaster Tools is reliable. One trick is to just make a backlink to the profile from somewhere that you know gets crawled often. Google will find your profile through this link and then note it. Another option is to link from the often spidered site to a html file that you can control which contains links to profiles you want spidered. Just make sure you vary the location of the initial 'doorway' so Google doesn't find a footprint. Once the link has been found you can remove it from the list or point the doorway link to another profile.

I've had it take about six weeks before links have shown in Webmaster Tools.
It's not up-to-date.

Yahoo and Google are 2 separate Search Engines. Just because 1 of them has found the link it doesn't mean the other one has or even if it has it might not count the link for various reasons.

Have you checked to make sure the links were not pulled down? Also, are they showing up in yahoo site explorer?

Two things are happening.

1. Google doesn't value your "backlinks" so they are not doing you any good.
2. Google is not now or will they every give you a proper accurate picture of how many real links they are indexing and ranking.

I suspect it's a good mix of both.

Jmac do a search on Google for your profile name and see if it shows in the results. I did a round with my packets (seperate from angela's but similar profiling) and out of about 30 I see 20+ in results. HOWEVER only 5 of them appear in backlink checks. I'm not sure how angela's work as I think I find them in a diiferent way but you should see some there.

Once you see your profiles in search results then you know they will be counted by Google and just have not showed up yet in the checkers.

No, that wouldn't explain how they all showed up at once in Webmaster tools.
