Default Does using url shortening site okey with SEO

Some times I have pages that are very long, and I want them to shorten using tinyurl, is this okey with search engine. For example instead of pointing link to my very long url I will put link to the url created by tinyurl...

I don't understand where these links appear--in emails, in Twitter, in article directories, on link pages...

I'll assume one of the last two possibilities:

If you are using anchor text for the link on a web page, why would it matter how long the file name is?

Do you know if tinyurl uses "dofollow" in their redirects?

Regardless, one problem would be that the links would appear to be coming from one url rather than your originating websites.

Matt Cutts says that they are treated as regular backlinks to whatever you're linking to.

Also, I've been backlinking with bit.ly (I don't have a choice) and my article that I'm backlinking seems to be responding positively.
