I Have been doing some promotion for a client's site. I just searched on Yahoo for links:www. clientsite. com. It shows 5 incoming links. But...... I've used Big Mike's directory bot and social bot on it. I also manually added it to some of the main social bookmarking sites as well as manually adding it to local directories and adding links from some of my own sites, etc. This has been over a period of about three weeks. Why do none of these links show? Am I wasting my time? Carol |

Carol, You are not wasting your time. Some links take a while to be discovered by the search engines. Other links never show up - not because they are not there, but rather because the search engines don't show you all the backlinks that they know about. So keep getting those links. Sara |

I think it is simply because search engine does not find it yet. But it is ok and your effort will not be wasted

Social bookmarks rarely show up in backlink checkers, and it can take 30 days and more for our sites to be approved in directories, let alone indexed. Always bear in mind that you are only ever going to see a percentage of your backlinks in any of the backlink checkers That said, I find this one is the most thorough and reliable(not an affiliate link):-SEO SpyGlass Software - Instantly Find Out How Your Competitors Got To 'Top Ten' In Google, Yahoo! and Bing Search Engines (go to 'download free edition' at the bottom of the page) If you are moving up the rankings, your efforts are working - base things on that, rather than the amount of links that show up There are of course many other factors too - how old your site is, the level of competition, your onpage SEO, how varied and consistent your link building is etc etc.
