Whats your dream keyword phrase to rank for and why?

Once i researched Google for the most valuable keyword phrase to rank for.
I found something with 100M competing pages and $10/click.
After 4 month of backlink building - i got my site on the first page of google and found that it gives me 10 visits a day.
Granted - I haven't created any product for this specific niche - but my discovery was that first page on google SERPs + high number of competing pages + high cost per click does not mean automatic cash deposit to your bank account

You probably had one of those "the most expensive keywords" lists, and (most of them) have a FUNDAMENTAL flaw.

They do indeed list most paying keywords (aka "mesothelioma lawyer"), things like that.

The flaw is that those lists do not take search volume into account. In other words:

A keyword "mesothelioma lawyer in austin texas" has no value, because even if it would pay $20/click there is HARDLY any search volume.

The key is to have a list with the MOST PROFITABLE keyword which also takes search volume into account.

I blogged about this a while ago. Then the list changes. I can tell you that not long ago the most profitable keywords were still car insurance and basically all insurance related - and not obscure keywords like in those other lists which have hardly 10 searches a month, like mesothelioma, dui lawyer or whatever "pays most"...

Yes i have to admit i didn't pay attention to volume, although it stated to be 1000-6000/global monthly.
Having said that search volume is certainly serious factor not to ignore.

Any keywords in the Adult industry are usually lucrative, barring the obscure, low search ones...

Can you say $15 a click

to answer your actual question ...since i don't do a lot with adsense i personally dont care about Adwords "CPC" (and derived/assumed payouts) anymore. So i would chose a keyword eg. for affiliate products...let's say "lose weight" and then i would promote fat loss for idiots or something
